History of Wilhelmina peppermint

WILHELMINA peppermint

The Fortuin company existed for exactly fifty years in 1892 and wanted to give some publicity to this. The Fortuin mint was perfect for this purpose and was developed as a tribute to Princess Wilhelmina of Orange-Nassau , who turned twelve that year.

To this day, every mint still bears the image of Princess Wilhelmina .

The Frisian candy company from Dokkum, Friesland, proudly offered the first box of Wilhelmina peppermint to the Royal House in 1892. The sweets were popular there, because four years later Fortuin was given the title of Purveyor to the Royal Household.

Each mint features the image of Princess Wilhelmina.

The mints are sold as a roll, in a bag, sliding box and in a can. The tins are popular with royal collectors. Over the decades, several variants have been introduced to the market.

The first cans featured images of Princess Wilhelmina . Since 1991, other members of the royal family have also adorned the candy tins.
