Storing sweets: keep varieties and information together

A jar of mixed sweets looks inviting. Yet it is useful to know later which sweets you have, what they contain and which instructions apply. Start keeping track when you open a packet.
Read the storage instructions first
Use the directions on the packaging as your starting point. Do not choose one temperature or storage period for your entire selection without checking the individual information. Look for instructions that apply after opening too.
Keep varieties identifiable
Prefer your own jars? Give each variety its own space and keep its label. You can note the opening date without treating it as a new expiry date. This helps you match each sweet to its information.
Separate storage from serving
There is no need to put your whole supply on the table. Serve a smaller amount and keep the remaining product information available. A separate jar does not guarantee that a product is free from allergens.
Before your next order, check what you still have and read the accompanying instructions. This makes choosing easier and avoids guessing what is inside an unlabelled jar. For product-specific storage advice, start with the label.
For examples, see Happy Peaches, Venco Colour Liquorice and Dutch Peppermint Cushions; always check the current product information and label for each variety.
